Elaine Beard Funchess, 58, of Claremont went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of February 8, 2023. She was born August 30, 1964, to the late Alice and Charles Beard Jr. In Bamberg, SC.

Elaine was a strong and loving mother to all and a friend to most. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. Her passing was unexpected, but her grace and acceptance of all were not. Elaine loved nothing more than a good cup of coffee in a home filled with family.

She was preceded in death by her life partner of 29 years Wayne Rainey, her brother Robert Smith, her parents, and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter Jessica Hutto, son Reginald Funchess of South Dakota, daughter Katie Funchess of Maiden, daughter Rebecca Funchess of Claremont, stepson Chris Rainey of Taylorsville, stepdaughter Krista Rainey of Spruce Pine, stepson Chance Rainey of Spruce Pine, sister Kathy Lyons of Smoaks SC, sister Teresa Bartlett of Holly Hill SC, sister Cathy Godfrey of Baxley GA, twenty-four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Anyone who knew Elaine knew there was room in her heart for many more to call her mom.
