Edna May Swett

Edna May (Hall) Swett, 92, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023, at her home in Hubert, NC. She was born in Wheelwright, Massachusetts, and was the eldest of three daughters of Edith and Oliver Hall. She graduated from Hardwick High School and became a hairdresser after. She married Robert Swett of Warren, MA on October 11, 1952, and celebrated over 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2014.

Throughout her years, Edna’s faith and love of the Lord carried her over life’s obstacles that were in her path. She was an active member of the churches she belonged to. She taught Sunday school at the Auburn Methodist Church in Auburn, ME, and was a member of Grace Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Bangor, ME. Edna was associated with the Christian Women’s Club in Bangor and became chairperson. She also led Bible studies in her spare time.

Edna would support activities, groups, and organizations. In her youth, she was a member of the 4-H club. In Auburn, ME, Edna volunteered with the Girl Scouts, assisted at Fairview Elementary in the school library, and helped teach in the resource room at Fairview. She volunteered at Ross Manor and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor. Edna also assisted with many bake sales, rummage sales, and suppers at churches that she was affiliated with. She was always there to lend a hand and support when asked or would offer help.

Edna is survived by her son Ronald and his wife Laura, grandson Andrew, daughter Victoria, and her husband Jamie, grandchildren Edmond, Robert, and Rebecca and great-grandson, Oliver, sister Ruth, a very special niece, Karel, and husband Mike as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Edna made a very generous decision before passing to donate her body to medical research. Her gift was used to help medical professionals in training and research. More information can be found about whole body donation at medcure.org.
