Bonnie Lou Smith, a MedCure Whole Body Donor

In the presence of her family Bonnie Lou Smith, of Grifton, NC, passed from this life into eternity on Saturday June 30th, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

She was born September 30, 1945 in Pensacola, FL and raised in Havelock, NC. She was a proud graduate of Havelock High School.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents Nile “Moe” and Joyce Wixon as well as husbands Bob McKenzie, Alvin Smith, and her beloved Brian Hindersman.

She is survived by her sisters, Becky Ruppe of Newport N.C. and Kristine Adams of Greenville N.C.; her children Pauline (Rick) Helms of Winston-Salem N.C., Tara (Joe) Bates of Grifton N.C., Karin Smith of Grifton N.C., Jennifer (Ben) Smith of Bowling Green, KY; step-children Tim (Lisa) Smith of Fort Wayne IN, Becky (Tom) Coath of Elwood IN; grandchildren, Amanda Smith, William McKenzie, Jeffrey Jennings; and numerous nephews, nieces and “adopted” children.

Bonnie was a life-long servant in caring for others as a Lab/Rad tech, an EMT, firefighter, and personal care assistant. She was a conserver of Mother Earth and embracing of all things needing motherly love, whether human or animal. As Bonnie’s spirit has gone to join her Heavenly Father as well as her previously departed family and friends, her body will continue to serve our earthly world’s body of knowledge.
