Edna Smith

Our mom passed away on December 1, 2021. She had always said that she wanted to donate her body to science and medical research but had not taken the steps to plan that in advance. Due to the nature of her illness and medical history, the hospital was unable to accept her. We prayed that God would help us find the right solution. Within about half an hour of her passing, we found MedCure. We are so grateful for your company and how you helped us in our greatest time of need, honoring her final wishes.

Edna Irene (Cooper) Smith was born on March 30, 1949, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to parents Elizabeth (Howell) Cooper and James Cooper. She was married to Ronald Smith on July 3, 1967, and they had three children: Michelle Griffith (Chris), Ronald Smith II (Shannon), and Heather Schimmelpfennig (Dean). She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Dean Schimmelpfennig Jr. (Ashton), Ronald Smith III (Courtney), John Mangum (Josi), Elise (Schimmelpfennig) Maxwell (Cole), Jennavive (Mangum) Vigar, Robyn Smith (Blake), and James, as well as several great-grandchildren who survive her. Edna was a lifelong follower of Christ and a Montessori educator. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Tracee, and her son-in-law John Mangum.
