Selma Michelle Campbell, born Jan. 10, 1946 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil passed away Saturday morning on May 30, 2026. We were Blessed to celebrate her 80th birthday this year with her as well as Mother’s Day! She had many names throughout the years, however her favorite was Mema. She adored her grandkids and was excited to learn she would be a great mema later this year! She had a special gift of connecting with anyone, anywhere even in different languages. She was fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and also understood several other languages. She could spark a conversation with anyone about anything and loved being able to speak to someone in their own language. This also helped her when she worked for the SSA and doing translation work. She also worked on post in Ft. Gordon, GA. She loved God, her family, and was loyal to her friends of which she made lifelong friends (you know who you are – I dont want to leave anyone out) and new ones here in Bowling Green, KY. We attended Lakeview Fellowship Church and she always enjoyed Pastor Scott’s sermons. She was always good at making strangers never feel like strangers loved talking to people. She loved cats and was definitely a cat mom who loved her Psty. Michelle is survived by her son and daughter in law, James and Renee McNeese, her grandchildren Luther McNeese and Raven Grawe, her sister Ana Catarina Stauch in Brazil, and Timothy Grantham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Campbell, her children Keith and Bryan Cook, her mom Maria Bastos, her dad Dominges Macei and her brothers Zico and Selso. Michelle will be remembered as Mema, Mom, Sister, Best Friend, deep in her Faith, and true to her culture. I will miss joking with her especially about cutting her hair which she never would. She chose to help others by donating her body to science and we are grateful for Medcure taking care of her after she passed. We will have a Celebration of Life in her memory in Bowling Green, KY at a later date. Eu te amo momma. Until we see each other again in our Forever Home.
