Keith Reginald “Reggie” Foster July 11, 1955 – March 29, 2026 Keith Reginald “Reggie” Foster passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Kernersville, North Carolina, just one day after celebrating his fortieth wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Rita (Malonis) Foster. Born in Atlanta and raised in Pine Lake, Reggie was a gifted scholar from an early age. He graduated at the top of his class from both Clarkston High School and Berry College. A lifelong lover of language and learning, he was fluent in German and spent time living in Heidelberg, Germany, where he studied German literature. He was also proficient in French and capable of translating both Latin and ancient Greek. After college, Reggie moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where he was apprenticed as an organ builder. His work took him across the country, building and installing pipe organs—an occupation that reflected both his craftsmanship and his appreciation for music and tradition. He later returned to Atlanta, where in 1985 he met Rita and her two children, Brighid and John. Reggie and Rita married in 1986 and made their home in Decatur, later moving to Cumming in 1995, where they continued to build their life together. In 2021, they moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Reggie had a deep love for animals, especially cats. He regularly donated to animal shelters and the Humane Society and never hesitated to help rescue a stray in need. His many interests included collecting silent and classic films, coins, and comics. The last film he watched was Buster Keaton’s The Cameraman, a fitting farewell for a lifelong admirer of classic cinema. Reggie is survived by his wife, Rita; his daughter, Brighid McCoy; his son and daughter- in-law, John and Katrine Banaghan; his grandchildren, Ella McCoy; Waverly Gans (and her fiancee, Brandon); Henry Banaghan (and his wife, Anna); and Andrew Banaghan; his niece, Melissa Isom-Butcher; and his nephew, Patrick McCart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Inez (Chadwick) Foster, and by his brother, Charles “Mickey” Foster. Reggie will be remembered for his intellect, kindness, curiosity, and quiet generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Reggie chose to donate his body to medical science. His family is planning a remembrance in Greensboro.
