Scatter at Sea DD26

A mission rooted in generosity, trust, and enduring commitment to advancing medicine. At its core, MedCure exists because of something extraordinary, individuals who make the selfless decision to donate their bodies to science. These donors and the families who support their wishes, are the foundation of everything that we do.

This year’s Donor Day marked a meaningful milestone for MedCure as we hosted our first in-person Donor Day ceremony, bringing together donor families, healthcare partners, staff, and members of the community to reflect, remember, and celebrate the extraordinary gift of whole-body donation.

For years, MedCure has honored the incredible generosity of our donors and their families. This inaugural gathering offered a special opportunity to come together face-to-face, express our gratitude, and recognize the profound impact each donor continues to have on medical education, research, and patient care.

More than a ceremony, Donor Day served as a reminder that behind every donation is a life remembered, a family honored, and a legacy that continues shaping generations to come.

Celebrating Lives and Lasting Legacies

The ceremony began with opening reflections from MedCure leadership, recognizing the extraordinary generosity of whole-body donors and the lasting impact their gifts continue to have. Guests then heard from distinguished professionals whose work has been directly shaped by whole-body donation. Their perspectives offered a meaningful look at how donors continue advancing physician training, surgical techniques, and medical innovation long after their lifetime.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our guest speakers:
Chris Koenig, MC, ATC/L – University of Florida
Guilherme Peixoto, DDS, MS, PhD – ARXCH Implant Training
Denise Diuana, MD and Victor Gonzalez – MasterDoctors

Honoring Every Life Remembered

One of the ceremony’s most meaningful moments came during our In Memoriam tribute. The remembrance began with a special reflection on MedCure’s Scatter at Sea ceremony at Depoe Bay, Oregon, honoring the lives and lasting legacies of donors entrusted to our care.

Families also generously shared photographs of their loved ones, allowing each donor’s memory to be present as we honored the remarkable lives behind every gift. As each photograph appeared, attendees were reminded that every donation begins with a person, a parent, spouse, friend, mentor, or loved one whose generosity continues touching lives for generations.

Following the ceremony, donor families, guests, and staff gathered together over refreshments, sharing stories, offering support, and reflecting on the enduring legacy their loved ones leave behind.

While this year’s Donor Day marked a meaningful milestone for MedCure, our commitment to honoring donors extends far beyond a single day of remembrance. Every donor’s gift continues to shape the future of medicine, creating opportunities for education, research, and compassionate patient care that will benefit generations to come. We are deeply grateful to every donor, every family, and every professional partner who joined us in celebrating these remarkable lives and the enduring impact of whole-body donation.
