Joseph Ford

We said goodbye to our dad on March 4, 2026. He passed peacefully at home. Our dad lived a full life and was blessed to see 86 years. Throughout his life, he was passionate about helping others – especially those who were often overlooked: the homeless, people struggling with addiction, the sick, and anyone in need. It was very important to him that every person be treated with dignity, respect, and value.

He loved animals and children and had a heart that made room for everyone. Mt. Ararat Baptist Church was also very dear to him and always remained close to his heart.

Dad was truly a joy to be around. He loved to joke and had a naturally humorous soul. I used to tell him he needed to stop playing around so much because people wouldn’t believe he was sick – but of course, he always had a joke ready for that too. Even during his visits with the nurses, while they were trying to stay professional, he was cracking jokes and making them laugh. In a short time, they got to know the joyful spirit that we all knew and loved.

Each of us carries our own memories of him – some good, some not so good – but I pray that the best of those memories brings you peace, joy, laughter, and closure as you remember him. Many of you were on his heart and mind, and he prayed for you often.

Our dad was a giver. If he had something you needed, he would surely give it to you. Even in his passing, he continued that spirit of giving by donating his body to science. He believed the soul lives on eternally, but the body returns from which it came, and this final service could be a gift to others. Dad is gone on but he’ll never be forgotten, his memories will live on in all of us.

Our family has never been very traditional. We’ve always done things in life the way that felt right to us, and in our dad’s passing it will be no different. Collectively we’ve decided not to hold a service. We understand this is not the norm and would appreciate your support as we move forward.

However, we want to sincerely thank those who were able to visit him recently or speak with him by phone. Those moments brought him so much happiness during his final weeks.

To all this family and friends, we pray the Peace of God comforts you. You are in our prayers. We thank you in advance for your support, calls, text, condolences, and prayers during this time. Be Blessed.
