Reasons for Donating Body To Science

These are comments from people expressing why they want to donate their bodies to medical science.  If you would like to contribute your reason, email it to us at info@medcure.org or fill out a Contact Us form.

  1. I would like to donate my body in an effort to minimize my carbon imprint and help future research in the future. I think this is a far more earth friendly approach than burying bodies, and taking up space, resources, and possibly poisoning the eco-system.

  2. I hope they find a cure for what is ailing me now so others don’t have to deal with this.

  3. Surgeons can learn to operate on my body instead of ‘practicing’ on someone who is alive.

  4. I work in Cardiac Surgery and I know the need for donations that can help another. So much more can be learned with whole body donations.

  5. I want to keep helping others even when I’m no longer ‘here’.

  6. I have arthritis in darn near every joint and all, no insurance, and I don't want to be a burden to anyone about the cost of my funeral when I'm gone, but most of all I hope that I will be able to help others in ways that I can't do now.

  7. I want to continue to travel to new places after I die.

  8. My husband and I are still young but want to make sure things are in order for our family. We both feel this is a good way to be of use even after we are gone. Thank you.

  9. I will donate my body because burial freaks me out.  Anaerobic decomposition under 6 feet of dirt is just not my style.

  10. I'm absolutely sure that this is what I want to do. I have always wanted to be an organ donor but have been diagnosed with breast cancer and don't know if that is possible now. Have recently decided on cremation, so this is perfect for me.

  11. I want any of my parts to be used for anything good. I also want my brain to go to Alzheimer's for research. Hopefully it will help find a cure. Having been a teacher I am in for any learning ability that may come from my body.

  12. I have a very deep respect for the medical profession and always had a strong desire to be a part of the medical profession. When I was young, I set up an ‘operating table’ on the ping pong table performed ‘surgery’ on dolls! There can be no continuing research or discoveries made without bodies to study. My wish is to be a part of the ongoing search for tomorrow’s medical discoveries and cures for today’s diseases. I would be honored to be a part of this great ongoing research.

  13. Can’t think of a better way to get some more use out of this old body and its better than paying a lot of money for it!

  14. I have always said, take whatever you need, leave little or nothing behind, because I have no use for it where I am going.

  15. If my body is of no more use to me in the present then it should be used for study to help in the future. That is my "afterlife".

  16. I have always wanted my entire body to be donated to science. Anything that can be used is a gift I want to make and even my cadaver for the medical students who need them is much better than gaining no use out of this flask when I leave it.

  17. Have talked about finding a program just such as this one. Seems a waste to just let your body decay away after death. Been big into recycling most of my adult life. This would be my final recycling project.

  18. When my mother died from cancer last year, she donated her body. I was very pleased with the care everyone associated with your company took during the process. I have told others about your company and would like to donate as well.

  19. I had a friend who donated his body to medical science. I thought it was a cool thing to do. After I'm gone I won't have much use for my corpse and why tie up expensive real estate?

  20. I feel like I don't do enough for people in life, so I want to do something for people in death.

  21. You did a fabulous job with my father and I would like to do this for myself. Thank you.

  22. I'm still fairly young (57) and in decent shape. But, when my time comes, I don't want to be an 'expense' to my Family.

  23. I don't have a family and would prefer this alternative to help with research for the good of mankind. I do have one person that the remains could be given to. I am a Viet Nam era Army vet as well. Thanks & have a good day!

  24. Before my mother displayed any symptoms of her terrible disease, she maintained that she wanted her body donated to science and her remains cremated.  I was very pleased to find your organization!  It appears you’ve done all you can to simplify this difficult process.

  25. I've always wanted to further scientific research.

  26. My father is interested in donating his body for research. He would like future medical students or researchers to be able to learn more about his condition in order to come up with better treatments for the future.
