Cremation Options

MedCure is a national body donation program in support of medical science. We work with, at our sole expense, licensed funeral directors in your area to arrange for transportation and cremation of your loved one’s remains, obtain two copies of the death certificate and return the cremated remains to the family in a heart shaped urn in approximately 4-6 weeks. Alternatively, you may request, and we will arrange for, a memorial scattering of the remains at sea.

Cremation of donors takes place at an independent, licensed crematorium and each donor is cremated individually.

Memorial Scattering At Sea

If this option is chosen, MedCure will arrange for the cremated remains to be scattered at sea within eight months of donation.  If requested, families are sent a memorial certificate detailing the date, time, latitude and longitude after scattering takes place.

If cremated remains are to be returned to the family, we package them in a heart-shaped urn (pictured) which is handcrafted from the regenerating bark of the Mulberry tree.  Cremated remains are sent within approximately four to six weeks following donation. A letter precedes the registered return of the cremated remains.

"My aunt and my father passed away with three weeks of each other. My aunt had a lovely service which cost upwards of $9,500. Three weeks later, daddy died and donated his body to MedCure, (as were his wishes). I have to say that although my aunt's service was lovely, the attitude of the funeral staff was not as warm and caring as MedCure -  with an absolutely free cremation! He was always one to watch his pennies, but I would have never expected such great service for free." ~ MedCure Donor Family, June 2008
